Use a thicker leader and tippet 1x to 3x not just for fighting larger fish, but because thicker lines help cast these heavy flies more accurately. Brood X is expected to be its most dense late May into June. It will eventually fizzle out in July, however, trout will recognize these flies late into the summer and opportunistically take them.
